Pat Neff Middle School Reconstruction

Project Details

Location: San Antonio, TX

Project Size: 65,000 ft2

Jesse Garza partnered with Northside ISD to modernize Pat Neff Middle School—its oldest middle school—and address decades of ad hoc additions, spatial inefficiencies, and outdated safety features. The comprehensive master plan reimagines the campus for 1,200 students through a strategic blend of new construction, renovation, and adaptive reuse. Key improvements include replacing the administration building, introducing a modernized cafeteria connection, and adding a new security lobby and covered walkways to create a safer, more efficient, and clearly identifiable campus entry sequence. Thoughtful phasing allowed the school to remain fully operational throughout construction, prioritizing safety for students, staff, and visitors.

Phase II of the long-term plan introduces a major Athletics and Career Technical Education (CTE) expansion, now past the halfway point in construction. This new wing will feature a competition and practice gym, boys’ and girls’ locker rooms, a weight room, and CTE spaces such as a dance studio, construction lab, and engineering lab, with direct connections to the football field and new tennis courts. As structural steel rises, the form and scale of this future student hub are taking shape. Scheduled for completion in October 2025, the project continues to advance rapidly, supported by active construction administration, close coordination with the general contractor, and ongoing field verification using drone technology. The result is a renewed campus that supports modern learning, athletics, and hands-on career exploration for generations to come.
