Jesse Garza partnered with Northside ISD to design Joey Tomlinson Elementary School, a prototype PK–5 campus serving the fast-growing Davis Ranch community in Northwest San Antonio. The 800-student facility brings together modern learning spaces including classrooms, fine arts areas, a library, STEM and art labs, child nutrition facilities, and indoor/outdoor physical education environments.
As a prototype, the campus integrates forward-thinking safety and sustainability strategies. A secure, clearly defined entry lobby establishes controlled access and a strong sense of identity, while covered walkways, enhanced visibility, and intuitive wayfinding improve daily circulation and student supervision. Materials and building systems follow Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) best practices, supporting indoor environmental quality, energy and water efficiency, and long-term durability—creating a healthy, stable learning environment for students and staff.
