Grammar School

Project Details

Location: San Antonio, TX

Project Size: 36,700 ft2

The new Grammar School at the Geneva School of Boerne is part of the campus’s 30-acre master plan, replacing aging temporary facilities with a permanent home for K–5 students. The project includes classrooms, a science room, and an art and music building, supported by flexible collaborative labs that encourage group learning, independent study, and small assemblies. Classrooms are technology-enabled, filled with natural light, and offer direct access to shared labs and outdoor learning areas.

The buildings are arranged along the main drop-off drive to enhance safety and visibility, connected by covered boardwalks that reflect the character of the school’s earlier facilities while fostering student interaction. The architecture draws from Texas Hill Country vernacular, with thoughtful building orientation—such as the north-facing Art and Music building—supporting program needs and environmental performance. Sustainable materials and systems were specified throughout, including locally sourced stone and energy-efficient design strategies.
