Cafe Punta de Cielo

Project Details

Location: San Antonio, TX

Project Size: 1,200 ft2

This flagship U.S. prototype for a Mexico-based coffee brand introduces an elevated, Starbucks-style “third place” to downtown San Antonio—blending specialty coffee, all-day dining, and a warm, modern social hub for study and collaboration. The design merges contemporary Mexican hospitality with an urban San Antonio sensibility through natural woods, clay and stone textures, desert neutrals, and vibrant accents inspired by regional textiles. A signature open coffee bar anchors the space, treating preparation as performance while showcasing the brand’s Mexican coffee origins. The plan organizes guests into a visible front bar and pastry area, a flexible social commons, and quieter study zones at the perimeter, all connected by intuitive circulation that separates traffic flow from dwell spaces. Mixed seating typologies, layered residential-style lighting, acoustic treatments, integrated power, and optional late-night café/study hours support a range of uses—from quick stops to extended work sessions—positioning the café as a refined yet approachable daily “urban living room.”
